Primate-plant interactions: leaf-eating and fruit-eating

The study of interactions between primates and the plants that are their physical substratum and source of food is a fundamental aspect of our field research. Here we focus on the monkeys use of plants as their source of food. Specifically, we are interested in documenting the plant species used and the plant parts consumed, and how the foraging behavior, ranging patterns and year to year feeding patterns of the primates varies as a result of variations in the spatial and temporal availability and chemical properties of the plant parts they consume. We are further interested in documenting and understanding how these responses vary as a result of habitat fragmentation
